Chicken Fried Steak and Gravy
Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans
Ingredients
- ⅓ cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 sleeve saltine crackers, crushed
- ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ Tbsp seasoned salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- ¾ lb cubed steak, cut into 6 portions
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- ½ (2.64-oz) pkg country gravy mix
Instructions
- Whisk together milk and egg in a shallow dish. Stir together crushed crackers, flour, seasoned salt, and pepper in a separate shallow dish.
- Dip steak in milk mixture, letting excess drip off; dredge in cracker mixture to coat. Place on a wire rack set over a foil-lined baking sheet. Let stand 20 minutes to set crust.
- Pour oil to a depth of ½ inch in a deep skillet; heat over medium-high heat to 360˚F. Fry steaks, in batches, 4 to 6 minutes per side or until golden brown and done.
- Meanwhile, prepare gravy according to package directions. Serve over steaks.
Side Dish Ingredients
- ¾ lb Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
- ¼ cup milk
- 2 Tbsp butter, softened
- 1 (14.5-oz) can green beans
Side Dish Instructions
- Combine potatoes and water to cover in a saucepan; bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes or until tender.
- Drain and return potatoes to pot. Add milk and butter; mash to desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper, if desired.
- Meanwhile, cook green beans according to package directions. Season with salt and pepper, if desired.
