French Onion Salisbury Steak Bowls
Italian Salad
Ingredients
- ½ lb ground beef
- ⅛ tsp salt
- ⅛ tsp pepper
- 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- ¼ tsp sugar
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- ½ Tbsp tomato paste
- ¾ cup low-sodium beef broth
- ¼ tsp dried thyme
- 2 frozen cheese with garlic Texas toast
Instructions
- Combine beef, salt, and pepper in a bowl; shape into 2 patties. Dredge patties in flour; reserve ½ tsp flour.
- Cook patties in hot oil in a large skillet over medium heat 5 minutes per side. Remove from skillet, and set aside. Drain, reserving 1 Tbsp drippings in skillet.
- Add onion and sugar to drippings; cook over medium heat 5 minutes. Stir in garlic and tomato paste; cook 2 minutes.
- Sprinkle reserved flour over onion; cook, stirring, 2 minutes. Add broth, thyme, and patties to skillet; bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, bake cheese toast according to package directions. Place 1 slice in each of 2 shallow bowls. Place 1 patty on each piece of toast; ladle soup and onion mixture over patties.
Side Dish Ingredients
- 2 cups chopped romaine lettuce
- ½ cup garlic croutons
- 3 Tbsp Italian dressing
Side Dish Instructions
- Toss together all ingredients in a bowl just before serving.
