Chicken Sausage and Broccoli Rabe Pizza
Arugula-Tomato TossIngredients
- ¾ cup crushed tomatoes
- 1 (0.5-oz) pkg fresh basil, torn
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ tsp freshly ground pepper
- 1 (1-lb) ball bakery pizza dough
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- ½ lb broccoli rabe, coarsely chopped
- ½ cup water
- 2 (3-oz) links fully-cooked Italian chicken sausage links, thinly sliced
- 1½ cup freshly shredded fontina cheese (or use mozzarella)
- ¼ tsp crushed red pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F. Combine tomatoes, basil, garlic, and pepper in a bowl.
- Roll out pizza dough into a 16-inch round on a greased baking sheet; prick dough all over with a fork. Brush with oil; bake 8 minutes.
- Meanwhile, place broccoli rabe in a microwave-safe dish with ½ cup water; cover dish with plastic wrap, and vent one corner. Microwave at HIGH 4 to 5 minutes or until tender; drain.
- Top pizza with tomato sauce, sausage, steamed broccoli rabe, and cheese. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until thoroughly heated and golden.
- Sprinkle with red pepper, if using. Cut into wedges to serve.

- 3 cups baby arugula
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
