Blackberry-Basil-Cucumber Smash
Ingredients
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup water
- 1 (0.5-oz) pkg fresh basil
- 4 blackberries
- 2 cucumber slices
- 3 Tbsp gluten-free gin (see Note)
- 1 Tbsp fresh lime juice
- Garnishes: cucumber ribbon, blackberries (optional)
Instructions
- Combine sugar, water, and basil in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat; cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes. Strain (makes ⅔ cup).
- Add blackberries and cucumber to a cocktail shaker, and gently muddle. Add gin, 2 Tbsp basil simple syrup, lime juice, and ice to fill shaker. Cover and shake until chilled, about 30 seconds.
- Strain mixture into an old-fashioned glass filled half full with ice. Garnish, if desired. Makes 1 serving.
