Chewy Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
- 1½ cups butter, softened
- 1½ cups sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
- 4¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp cream of tartar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl with a mixer at medium speed until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cream of tartar in a bowl. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture, beating until blended. Shape dough into 2-inch balls.
- Place dough balls 2 inches apart on parchment paper-lined baking sheets; gently flatten cookies.
- Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on pans 2 minutes. Remove from pans and cool completely on wire racks.
