Seared Ham Steaks with Apples
Sautéed Garlic Brussels SproutsIngredients
- ½ (1-lb) ham steak, cut into 2 pieces
- ¼ tsp pepper
- 2 tsp coconut oil
- ½ Gala apple, sliced
- ½ onion, sliced
- ¼ cup organic beef broth
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- ¼ tsp dried thyme
Instructions
- Sprinkle ham with pepper. Melt oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ham, and cook 3 minutes per side; remove from skillet, and keep warm.
- Add apples and onion to skillet; reduce heat to medium. Sauté 5 minutes or until browned and tender.
- Return ham to skillet; add broth, mustard, and thyme. Simmer over medium heat 5 minutes or until liquid is slightly thickened.
Side Dish Ingredients
- ½ lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed
- 1 tsp coconut oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp sodium-free lemon-pepper seasoning
Side Dish Instructions
- Thinly slice Brussels sprouts. Melt oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat; add garlic and Brussels sprouts. Cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Add vinegar, salt, and lemon-pepper. Cook 4 to 5 minutes or until vinegar is evaporated.
