Cheesy Pepperoni Calzones

Ingredients

  • 1 (13.8-oz) can refrigerated pizza dough
  • ½ (6-oz) pkg pepperoni
  • ½ (15-oz) carton whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 Tbsp fresh basil leaves
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Unroll pizza dough onto a flat surface. Cut dough into 4 squares.
  2. Arrange pepperoni, ricotta, mozzarella, and basil leaves over one side of each dough square; fold dough over to completely enclose filling, crimping edges to seal.
  3. Place calzones on 2 parchment paper-lined baking sheets; brush with beaten egg. Cut 3 slits in top of each calzone to allow steam to escape.
  4. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until calzones are golden brown. Serve 3, and reserve remaining calzone for another meal.
