Chocolate Kiss Cookies
Ingredients
- ½ cup butter, softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1⅓ cups all purpose flour
- ½ cup dark chocolate baking cocoa
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ⅓ cup milk
- 2 (4-oz) semisweet chocolate bars, melted
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 (10.1-oz) bag milk chocolate candies hugged by white creme candy, unwrapped
Instructions
- Beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl with a mixer at medium speed until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Whisk together flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Add flour mixture to butter mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture, beating just until combined after each addition.
- Stir in melted chocolate into dough until blended. Cover, and refrigerate dough at least 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350ºF. Place powdered sugar in a small bowl. Shape dough into 1½-inch balls and roll in powdered sugar to coat. Place coated dough balls 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheets.
- Bake 15 minutes or until surface of cookies are cracked and edges look dry. Immediately insert a chocolate candy in center of each cookie. Cool on pans 5 minutes.
- Remove from pans, and cool completely on wire racks. Store in an airtight container up to 3 days.
