Mongolian Beef
Sesame Jasmine Rice
Ingredients
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced across the grain
- ¼ cup plus 1 Tbsp cornstarch, divided
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- ½ cup water
- ⅓ cup packed brown sugar
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp refrigerated ginger paste
- ¼ tsp crushed red pepper
- 4 green onions, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
- Place steak slices in a large zip-top plastic bag. Add ¼ cup cornstarch; seal bag, and shake to coat.
- Cook coated steak, in batches, in hot oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned and crisp. Drain crispy beef on paper towels. Wipe skillet clean.
- Stir together water, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, ginger paste, 1 Tbsp cornstarch, and red pepper in a same skillet; cook over medium-high heat until slightly thickened.
- Add steak and green onions; cook until sauce is thickened. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.

- 1½ cups basmati rice
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tsp toasted sesame seeds
Side Dish Instructions
- Cook rice according to package directions. Toss hot cooked rice with sesame oil and sesame seeds in a large bowl.
