Salted Caramel Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, cut into ½ inch thick pieces, chilled
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1½ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Heat sugar and water in a high-walled, light-colored skillet over medium heat.
  2. Cook, stirring occasionally, until mixture is a deep golden amber color, about 7 to 8 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in butter.
  3. Stir in heavy cream and salt until smooth. Pour caramel into a separate bowl and cool completely.
