Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 3 slices white bread, torn into pieces
  • ⅔ cup milk
  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 3 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1½ lb ground beef
  • 1½ lb ground pork
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Cook onion and garlic in hot oil in a skillet over medium heat until onion is tender. Add tomato paste; cook, stirring 2 minutes. Remove from heat, and let cool.
  2. Meanwhile, combine bread and milk in a large bowl; let stand 2 minutes. Add eggs, stirring until combined. Str in parsley, Italian seasoning, and cooled vegetable mixture; lightly season with salt and pepper.
  3. Add beef and pork; gently combine mixture with hands until blended. Shape mixture into 2 (9x4-inch) loaves and place on a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Stir together ketchup and Worcestershire sauce; spread over loaves.
  5. Bake 1 hour or until no longer pink in centers. Let stand 10 minutes before slicing.
