Chai Old Fashioned

Ingredients
- ¼ cup sugar
- ⅓ cup water
- 2 chai tea bags
- 1 (3-inch) strip orange peel
- ¼ cup bourbon
- 2 dashes of orange bitters
- Garnish: cinnamon stick
Instructions
- Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Add tea bags. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat; cool completely, about 30 minutes.
- Strain mixture, discarding tea bags. Chai simple syrup makes about ⅓ cup. Chill up to 2 weeks.
- Add orange peel and 1 Tbsp chai simple syrup to an old fashioned glass; muddle. Add bourbon and bitters; stir. Fill glass half full with ice. Garnish, if desired. Makes 1 serving.
