Dark Chocolate Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • ½ cup special dark baking cocoa
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Beat butter and sugars in a large bowl with a mixer at medium speed until fluffy. Add egg, beating well. Beat in vanilla.
  2. Whisk together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture, beating until blended. Shape dough into 2-inch balls.
  3. Place dough balls 2 inches apart on parchment paper-lined baking sheets; gently flatten cookies.
  4. Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on pans 2 minutes. Remove from pans and cool completely on wire racks.
