Baked Cinnamon Streusel French Toast

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup plus 2 Tbsp packed brown sugar, divided
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ (14-oz) loaf French bread, cubed
  • ¼ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup butter, cubed
  • ½ cup maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Whisk together eggs, milk, cream, granulated sugar, 2 Tbsp brown sugar, and vanilla in a large bowl. Add bread cubes, stirring to coat. Spoon into a lightly greased 9-inch baking dish. Cover, and refrigerate overnight.
  2. Meanwhile, stir together flour, ¼ cup brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in butter using a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly.
  3. Preheat oven to 350°F. Remove casserole from refrigerator and let stand at room temperature for 1 hour. Sprinkle with flour mixture.
  4. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until center is set. Serve with syrup.

  • 1 small Honeycrisp apple, chopped
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 1 cup seedless red grapes
  • 1 (8-oz) can pineapple tidbits, drained
  • ½ (10-oz) jar maraschino cherries, drained
  • ½ (12-oz) pkg sausage patties

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Toss together all fruit in a bowl.
  2. Cook 4 sausage patties according to package directions.
