Cheddar Drop Biscuits with Sausage and Tomato
Red GrapesIngredients
- ¾ cup all purpose flour
- ¼ cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp sugar
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup cold buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp butter, melted
- ½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- ½ lb lean turkey breakfast sausage, cut into 6 slices
- 1 large tomato, cut into 6 slices
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F. Whisk together both flours, baking powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Stir in buttermilk and butter until just moistened. Gently stir in cheese. Drop dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet in 6 (¼-cup) mounds.
- Bake 10 minutes or until biscuits are golden.
- Meanwhile, cook sausage according to package directions.
- Cut biscuits in half horizontally. Serve sausage and tomato in biscuits.
