Cinnamon-Apple Baked French Toast

Ingredients

  • 1 (14-oz) loaf French bread, cut into 2-inch cubes
  • 8 large eggs
  • 3 cups milk
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • 4 Tbsp butter, melted
  • ½ cup plus 2 Tbsp cinnamon sugar, divided
  • 4 Honeycrisp apples, peeled and cut into chunks 
  • ¼ cup water

Instructions

  1. Place bread cubes in a lightly greased 13-x-9 inch baking dish.
  2. Whisk together eggs, milk, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla until blended; pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  3. Preheat oven to 350°F. Let casserole stand at room temperature 30 minutes.
  4. Bake, covered, 45 minutes. Brush with melted butter; sprinkle with 2 Tbsp cinnamon-sugar. Bake, uncovered, 30 minutes longer or until center is puffed and set.
  5. Combine apples, ½ cup cinnamon-sugar, and ¼ cup water in a microwave-safe bowl. Cover, and microwave in 2 minute intervals, stirring between each, until apples are tender. Spoon over French toast.

  • 1 lb seedless grapes

Side Dish Instructions

  1. Cook sausage according to package directions. Serve grapes on each plate.
