Seared Ham Steaks with Apples
Sautéed Garlic Brussels Sprouts
Ingredients
- 2 (1-lb) ham steaks, cut into 6 pieces
- ½ tsp pepper
- 2 Tbsp coconut oil
- 2 Gala apples, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- ½ cup organic beef broth
- 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp fresh thyme
Instructions
- Sprinkle ham with pepper. Melt oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ham, and cook 3 minutes per side; remove from skillet, and keep warm.
- Add apples and onion to skillet; reduce heat to medium. Sauté 5 minutes or until browned and tender.
- Return ham to skillet; add broth, mustard, and thyme. Simmer over medium heat 5 minutes or until liquid is slightly thickened.
Side Dish Ingredients
- 1½ lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed
- 1 Tbsp coconut oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp sodium free lemon pepper seasoning
Side Dish Instructions
- Thinly slice Brussels sprouts. Melt oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat; add garlic and Brussels sprouts. Cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Add vinegar, salt, and lemon-pepper. Cook 5 to 7 minutes or until vinegar is evaporated.
